John Hutto Weed who covered Elvis' death and the assassination of Martin Luther King has passed away at 75. John played a key role in the coverage of the death of Presley by authorizing the publication of the results of Presley's death certificate.
His career spans 40 years in the news business. His colleagues say he read the dictionary every day. And learned one new word a day. He served the United States Army in Japan in counter intelligence before returning home to begin his life long career. He had a knack for being at the right place at the right time.
Weed died March 15 from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
