TRIBUTE ARTIST CONTEST AND FESTIVAL ANNOUNCED AS PART OF 150th ANNIVERSARY CITY OF RAHWAY CELEBRATION.
May 1, 2008 (Rahway, NJ) - Ren Media Publishing, Inc., in association with the Union County Performing Arts Centre (UCPAC), proudly announce that Rahway, NJ will host the New Jersey Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest and Festival on July 3-5, 2008. The New Jersey Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest and Festival is officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. and is one of more than 20 such contests and festivals from to and throughout the .
Professional and non-professional Elvis tribute artists 18 years or older from all over the world are invited to compete in the New Jersey contest on Saturday, July 5th at the Union County Performing Arts Center at 8 PM. Judges will be looking for talent, appearance, performance, stage presence and each contestant�s overall tribute to Elvis.
The New Jersey Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest and Festival preliminary contest will award more than $10,000 dollars in prize money. The winner of the New Jersey contest will earn the opportunity to compete for the title of �Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artists 2008� and participate in the qualifying rounds and finals of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest held in Memphis during Elvis Week in Memphis , August 9 through 17, 2008. The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest created by Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. is a search for the Elvis Tribute Artist that is the "best representation of the legacy of Elvis Presley."
Backing up the tribute artists will be the EAS Band, the official band that will be performing in Memphis during the UETA finals. The event will be hosted by WCBS-FM�s Bob Shannon and will also feature special guest Ray Walker, of the Legendary Jordanaires, who sang back-up vocals on over 300 of Elvis� recordings.
The New Jersey Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artists Contest and Festival will be held during July 3-5, 2008, during the 150th anniversary of the city of Rahway , combining patriotic celebrations with a tribute to Elvis Presley. Rahway has been experiencing a renaissance blending the traditions of the past with the trends of the future, with a special emphasis on the arts. The historic Union County Performing Arts Center has been recently renovated and will be the site of most of the festival activities. There will be an Elvis tribute artist meet and greet at the beginning of the first round of the contest. The contest will conclude with the GRAND FINALS on July 5, 2008 with an 8:00 PM show held at UCPAC, located at 1601 Irving Street in Rahway .
A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to sponsor local arts education programs.
